I noticed that Gareth Morgan’s Investment fund had just purchased some Microsoft shares - so I also own a bit of both. His rationale was that despite losing their mojo they are still receiving economic rent for their essential monopoly on Office and Windows. Fair enough, but I am also short Microsoft in my own portfolio.

That’s how I’m in both (plus Cisco) too. GMI will not invest in something if you tell them, but I saw no reason to do so, especially now I’ve heard about Azure, which I think is the most important and astute move they’ve made in over a decade.
